Install Outdoor Lighting for Safety, Security, and Beauty
from:You don’t have to be an electrical expert to easily install outdoor lighting that will serve a variety of purposes. Deter intruders by illuminating entryways and especially dark areas around your home. Prevent trips and falls by illuminating walkways and entryways; even driveways if you desire. You can also install outdoor lighting as accent lighting for decorative purposes.
Low voltage outdoor lighting needs no special wiring as it plugs into your existing electrical outlets. There is actually a transformer, which is a power pack that plugs into your regular outlets. These power packs then supply the electricity to the outdoor lights and run on only twelve volts so they are safe around children and pets. Another advantage to low voltage outdoor lighting is that you can preprogram them right at the power pack to turn the lights on and off at certain times.
Security
When you choose the outdoor lighting for safety or security, you have the option of using a motion detection sensor that turns the lights on when motion is detected. You can also choose to have the lights on at certain times but motion detection will alert intruders in such a way as to surprise them and they will likely flee, fearing a more elaborate alarm system is just around the corner.
Safety
You may program the outside lights to be on whenever you want them to be or let the motion detectors turn the lights on whenever you, family members, or visitors approach. You can choose from a variety of safety outdoor lights; they can be at ground level or they can be upright. You can also choose how bright you want your outdoor lighting to be; some purposes may require a higher wattage than others.
Decorative and Functional
You may want to install outdoor lighting to illuminate outdoor seating areas, such as around the pool, deck, or porch. You can also choose lighting that will illuminate a special collection or statue for decorative purposes. You have a wide area of choice when it comes to outdoor lighting. Your lights can even be focused on walls and fences or be built into posts or steps. Essentially, you are the decorator and you can install a minimum of outdoor lighting for security purposes or even more wherever you have a need.
Solar Lighting
Forego electricity use altogether and install outdoor solar lighting if you live in an area that gets a lot of sunlight. Solar lighting has batteries that are recharged as the sun shines and are designed to burn up to 15 hours or more as long as there has been enough sunlight to charge the batteries.
