Vinyl Flooring: What You Need To Know
from:If you are considering vinyl flooring for your home, you are not alone. Many people love this material for its benefits: easy to install, very affordable and relatively durable. Before making the decision to invest in this product, you do want to consider what it can offer to you. Many of today's products are highly effective and very easy to use. There are a variety of color and style options available, too.
Vinyl flooring works well in many areas of the home. It can work well in the kitchen or bathroom since it is easily cared for and can resist water and spills well. It is important to install it only where the sub floor, or flooring structure, is completely level and in good shape, since the vinyl will mimic anything that is under it, including small bumps. For example, if there is a visible nail head on the sub floor, eventually, as the vinyl is worn down, it will become more noticeable.
In terms of durability, there are several things to expect from vinyl. First, if you purchase a high quality product, you will get more durability out of it. Other products, especially those that are made of a mixture of mineral fibers or clay will be far less durable and may even not provide much for wear and tear over time. Rather, if you want it to withstand dishes falling on it and high traffic areas, do invest in a higher quality vinyl flooring. Generally, both types are readily available.
One of the biggest benefits to vinyl is its ability to be easily installed. Of course, you will need to invest some time in laying the vinyl properly and you will want to consider hiring a professional to do the work for you if you are unable to do lay them properly. Small errors, such as errors in placement or uneven lines will instantly show in the finished product.
One of the nice benefits of today's products is that vinyl does not have to be put down in a simple large sheet as it used to be installed. Rather, today's products are easily laid in place using blocks that are available in similar sizes as tile. Some products even mimic the look and texture of tile.
There is no doubt that vinyl flooring can be a good investment, when you purchase a high quality product and you have it installed properly. Invest a bit more and you are likely to have a product that lasts far longer. Keep in mind that the best-looking vinyl can have decorative features, colors and styles. This is not a boring or simplistic type of flooring, but it can be highly affordable and easily installed.
