How to Choose the Right Web Host for Your Business

from:

If your home remodeling job includes adding or remodeling a home office so you can start your own online business, you are going to need a web host. Choosing the right one is an important aspect to the success of your business so it is crucial that you choose your web host wisely.

Free Web Hosting Services

For the most part, you get what you pay for and this includes web hosting. Often, in order to get free web hosting, you have to put up with their advertisements on your site. This can be very annoying because often, these advertisements are in the form of flashing banners or pop up ads, which will annoy your customers as well. Even if you don’t have to deal with the web host’s advertisements, for the most part, the level of reliability and up time is inferior to that of the web hosting services that you pay for. With more than a few web hosts that offer services for under $10 per month, it really does pay to pay for this service.

How Many Sites Can You Host?

Even if you are only starting one website right now, chances are that later on you will want to add more sites. Stay away from web hosts that make you pay a separate hosting fee for each web site because there are many reputable web hosts that will let you host many sites for the same price as you pay to host just one site.

Reliability

Having your site go down for just one day could cost you an awful lot of money; if not in the beginning of your business, then certainly down the line. It is imperative that you choose a web host that has a reputation for being online at least 99% of the time. Read not only the fine print on the website of the web host you are considering but also read online reviews on web hosts so you will choose one with a reputation for being online all of the time.

Technical Support

It is crucial that you choose a website that has competent technical support and that it is available to you at any time. That means, week-ends, holidays, and at any time of the day or night. Also, consider how you will reach them. Must you email them or can you call them on the phone? Some web hosting companies have a live chat feature as well so do note how and when you will be able to contact your web hosting company for technical assistance.

Take your time when choosing a web hosting company and check out all of the features they offer and especially check out their reputation. Ask others who they prefer to use and why and you will be able to make an informed decision.

My fellow Forbes contributor has done an excellent job of laying out why the sky is not falling in on AMD and NVIDIA?s discrete graphics card market. He even does a good job of dispelling some of the myths surrounding the graphics card market. But there?s more to this issue, so I?m going to pick ...

Why Online Single-Player Games Are A Bad Idea

After over a decade of waiting, I’m excited as the installation bar fills to 100% and the Play button pops up. Diablo III is finally out, and I’m ready to settle in for a sleepless night of demon slaying and loot collecting. After I get my feet wet, I may decide to invite some friends to come fight at my side, but tonight I want to see the game on my own without any distractions. However, the ...

15 Current Technologies A Child Born Today Will Never Use

From the moment that I found out my wife was pregnant with our first child, a son, I’ve thought of his development in terms of tech. When pregnancy sites described our six-week-old fetus as the size of a “lentil,” I referred to him as the length of an RFID chip. When the doctor said he had reached 1.3 pounds, I told all my friends that my son was the size of an iPad. When he was born this week ...
