Music: Is it Time to Go Digital?
from:Updating your music collection is both fun and easy and if you haven’t gone digital yet, you may be surprised at all the advantages it offers. Even if you elect to keep your physical collection of music to play in your home stereo, wouldn’t it be nice to have a digital collection of your favorite music to go anywhere you go? In addition, when you take your music to the level of digital music, you can have hundreds of songs on an MP3 player so small it will fit in your purse or pocket. You would literally have to pack a suitcase to carry that many CDs around with you and it would be an awful burden.
Listen Only to the Songs You Want
When you have music in digital form, you don’t have to sit through songs that are just ok; instead, you get to listen to only the songs that you really like as it is easy to customize your digital music experience. There were times that consumers bought records, tapes, or CDs just so they could listen to one favorite song but those days are gone. Now, if there is just one song from an album that you like, it is easy and much more affordable to simply download the one song to your computer and then send it on to your MP3 player.
Oldies but Goodies are New Again
Even if you prefer the music of yesteryear, you can still enjoy the convenience of today’s technology while listening to yesterday’s music. It is easy to find almost any song you like online and that is as true for old songs as it is for the new ones. Listen to your favorites in your car, at the beach, at the gym, and even at home.
Sell Your Old Collection
If you’re not particularly sentimental about your CDs or records, there is a market for them on sites like Ebay. While you’re remodeling your home, you might as well remodel your music collection as well. Keep the ones you like and sell the ones you don’t. In fact, you may even earn enough money to pay for a state of the art MP3 player by selling your old collection. In the end, you’ll have more room in your home and all your favorite songs at your fingertips.
Beware of Illegal Digital Downloads
Make sure you are only downloading digital music from a legal site or you could find yourself in hot water. Purchase your music downloads from reputable sites only, such as Walmart.com or Amazon.com as there are plenty of sites that, despite strict copyright laws, still allow illegal music downloads. Several people have been sued because of this but the piracy continues. Downloading from a reputable site will protect not only you, but your computer too.
