12. Increase Curb Appeal with Stylish Door Hardware
from:When you plan to sell your house, there are certain things that you need to be aware of that decrease its value. These things might seem minor to you, but to the potential buyer they can make a great difference. The house has to make a good impression on the potential buyer right from the start, and the front door is an important part of that first good impression. There’s an old saying among cooks: the first bite is with the eyes. Well, the same is true with homes
The first look of the house should speak volumes about the benefits of the place. It should give a feeling of security and style, and looked well cared for and maintained. People looking to buy your house will want to know that the front door, windows etc are all strong enough to keep out undesirable people. It should also be well maintained, because the front door is the face you present to the world. People will assume that if this very public area is not well cared for, then the rest of your house must be neglected too.
Some aspects of home renovation can be quite costly and therefore may not seem like a good idea to you, if you are trying to sell your home. But that cannot be correctly said of repairing or replacing a damaged or unattractive front door. There are many things that can be done cheaply and still get the desired effect. This begins with choosing the right kind of door.
A door is a crucial part of the house’s overall appearance. When choosing a door, you have a wide range from which to select. There are so many kinds of front doors available in the market at reasonable prices that they can’t all be listed here. The right kind of door matches the appearance of the house and gives it a classy touch. It makes it appealing to everyone, including potential buyers.
Next, you will want to look at the numerous types of door hardware available on the market. Everything from door knockers, door handles and letter boxes are available in a range of styles, sizes and materials. They come in various finishes like satin nickel, polished chrome, oil-rubbed bronze, polished brass, and so on. Select the one that compliments the rest of the house. After this, there are other small but rather important things to choose, such as the doorknobs, handles, the kind of lock etc. Again, they come in matching finishes. Door locks also come in several varieties, such as in-built locks, deadbolt locks or even the simple latch; which you choose depends on the extent of security you require.
The correct front door – your house’s face presented to the world - helps you make a statement, but it also has to be very practical. The door finish should be one that withstands all seasonal weathers, i.e. from intense hot summers to harsh cold winters. It all depends on where you live. Your back door can actually be a bit less ornamental and decorative, but it should be sturdy enough to be secure and withstand the weather.
